Honors College LogoThe Honors College welcomes applicants in all academic disciplines looking to enhance their academic experience at Columbus State University through experiential learning and creative scholarship.  Admission to the Honors College is offered on a rolling basis and scholarship consideration will be made for those freshmen applications submitted by the priority deadlines of January 31st and March 1st.   

 

January 31st priority deadline allows for consideration of the Honors College Presidential Scholarship in the amount of $5,000 with up to $3,200 in study abroad stipend and is renewable.  Applicants not selected to interview for the Presidential Scholarship will be considered for the Tower and University Scholarships listed below.

 

March 1st priority deadline allows for consideration for the Honors College Tower and University Scholarships.  The Tower Scholarship offers $2,500 with up to $3,200 in study abroad stipend. The University Scholarship offers $1,000 and is nonrenewable.

Honors College Application:


Applicant Qualifications:


1. To be considered for the Honors College, applicants must have applied for admission to Columbus State University.


2. Admission requirements for:


A.) Honors College Freshmen:

  • SAT score of at least 1200 (pre-2016 score) with a minimum of 550 on each subsection, or
    an ACT composite score of a 26, or
    graduate in the top ten percent of your high school class. 
     
  •  A high school academic GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  •  Participation in high school and community activities.


B.) Honors College Transfer:

  • 15 or more semester hours earned that are applicable to a degree program.                                                   An overall cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher in academic courses that are applicable to a degree program.


C.) Honors College Undergraduate:

  • 15 or more semester hours earned that are applicable to a degree program.
  •  An overall cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher in academic courses that are applicable to a degree program.

D.) Honors College Dual-Enrollment:

  •  A high school grade point average of 3.4 or higher in academic courses that are applicable to a degree program (weighted), and
  • Either a 24 ACT Composite, or
  • 1100 Math and Verbal combined on the SAT (pre-2016 score).
